Hello, I'm Veronica, owner of Glorious Veronicas Florist in Newton Abbot.

Flowers have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my happiest childhood memories are of helping my grandad in his garden, picking vegetables, fruit and his favourite flowers, sweet peas. Their beautiful scent still reminds me of those days and of where my love of flowers first began.

I've always been drawn to creativity, whether through art, gardening or making something beautiful by hand. The moment I realised floristry was my calling came when I picked flowers for my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary. Seeing the joy on their faces when I handed them those flowers showed me just how powerful flowers can be. From that day on, I knew I wanted to help create those feelings for other people.

The name Glorious Veronicas combines the names of my mum, Gloria, and myself, Veronica. It felt only right that the business should carry a little piece of our story within its name.

My mum was also my first floristry teacher, teaching me how to care for flowers and appreciate the beauty in even the simplest arrangement.

Today, as an independent florist in Newton Abbot, we create hand-tied bouquets, wedding flowers, funeral tributes and seasonal floral designs for customers across South Devon. We're passionate about supporting local growers and using British-grown flowers whenever possible, celebrating the beauty of each season through our work.

Customers often describe our style as "whimsical garden magic," and I think that's the perfect description. I love flowers that look as though they've been gathered from an English country garden – full of movement, texture, scent and natural beauty. While cottage-garden designs are at the heart of what we do, we're equally at home creating elegant wedding flowers, contemporary arrangements and bespoke floral tributes.

Whether it's a birthday bouquet, wedding flowers, a heartfelt thank you or a final farewell, we take the time to listen and create something truly meaningful.

Funeral flowers hold a particularly special place in my heart. It is a privilege to help families create a meaningful farewell for someone they love. One of the moments that has stayed with me most was when a customer returned after her husband's funeral simply to thank me for helping create the perfect tribute. Moments like that remind me that flowers are about so much more than appearance – they bring comfort, connection and meaning when words alone aren't enough.
